My teaching philosophy centres on wellbeing and the principles of dance science. I believe in creating a supportive environment where dancers of all levels can explore their creativity and artistic expression while prioritising their physical and mental health. By integrating the latest dance science principles into my teaching, I empower dancers to move with joy, purpose, and informed movement, minimising injury risk and maximising their dance journey

Freelance dance educator and dance science practitioner  

Delivering research-informed dance training including technique classes, exam coaching, and specialised strength and conditioning sessions, alongside workshops, lectures, and academic support across a range of educational settings. Offering informal support for higher education students with dissertations, conducting 1:1 pointe readiness screenings, delivering bespoke strength and conditioning programmes and dance science workshops for recreational dance groups.

Dance Teaching

Creating and delivering classes in Ballet (RAD & ISTD), Tap, Modern, Contemporary, Jazz, Musical Theatre (new RAD syllabi), Strength and Conditioning classes (PBT Certified) and adult /community classes. Preparing students for graded and vocational examinations and choreograph for performances and showcases. 

Why I dance…

  • I have been dancing since the age of 3. Originally from Kent, I receiving my first ballet lesson from Mary Woodman in Canterbury. I moved to the Isle of Wight and grew up attending ballet, tap and modern classes, working through graded and vocational syllabi for both the RAD and ISTD.
  • Early teaching experiences assisting at my dance school, and teaching experience gained commuting to Southampton to study Performing Arts and A-Levels , cemented my drive to explore dance teaching further.

Scholarly Activities

MSc Dance Science @ Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance (2024-2025)

I graduated from Trinity Laban with a MSc in Dance Science (distinction). I specialised in Dance Training and Education, Arts for Health and Strength and Conditioning.

My dissertation focused on Promoting Health and Wellbeing Through Safe Dance Practices: Exploring Teacher, Student, and Parent Perspectives in Recreational Dance Education (Distinction). Other Topics included: Nutrition, Psychology, Biomechanics, Physiology, Injuries, Screening, Safe Dance Practice. 

Achievements: Lab Assistant for BA (Hons) Dance and Musical Theatre fitness screenings, Strength and Conditioning Assistant for CAT scheme, project lead CoLab: Exploring the Impact of Multidisciplinary Artistic Collaboration on Motivation.

BA Hons Ballet Education, Licentiate RAD, RAD Register Teacher Status @ Royal Academy of Dance (2021-2024)

I graduated from the Royal Academy of Dance with a BA Honours in Ballet Education (first class). In addition to the degree, I also received a Karsavina Award and become a Licentiate of the RAD (with distinction).

As a scholar at the RAD I had the pleasure of performing repertoire, studying choreography, technique and performance, and dance teaching theory and practice. I have undertaken a series of professional placements in private, public and community settings across London.

An opportunity to also study dance science and somatic practice for teaching as part of my degree, has fuelled my interest in this area. I undertook specialist modules in Dance Science – Optimising Performance, and focused my dissertation on Enhancing Student Anatomical Knowledge: An Intervention Study Integrating Postural Anatomy Education through Experiential Learning.
